The Oconee County Public Library has often had parents and patrons ask for books on particular grade and reading levels. It can be difficult for the staff to determine quality books for these levels, especially if the patron is in a hurry. In order for individuals to find the best books quickly on a certain level, the Oconee County Public Library has created Literacy Kits. These kits contain multiple books in various reading levels, comprehension questions for parents to discuss with their children as they read, and hands-on reading skill games to boost understanding. Children can begin at any level and progress through all the kits and levels to improve reading fluency and comprehension. These Literacy Kits are available at all four library branches and on the Bookmobile. They can be checked out for four weeks on any library card. The Oconee County Public Library strives to aid students in achieving their reading goals, and we think these Literacy Kits will be a huge benefit to any child! The reading levels are based on lexile.com.
