Frequently Asked Questions:
Who Can Participate?
Everyone – adults, teens, and children!
How does the game work?
- Pick up a paper log at the library or use our app.
- For every day that you read (or are read to) for at least 20 minutes mark it on your log or in the app.
- Once you’ve read for 5 days out of the week come into the library to get a prize (as supplies last).
How do I participate?
Just visit any Oconee County Public Library branch or Bookmobile to pick up your reading log, or you can download the app and start logging May 31st.
Do I need to sign up?
You will not need to sign up if you are using the paper log. Once you have completed one week of reading we will log you as a participant.
On the app you will register and be able to log reading for your entire family in one place.
When is the last day to start participating?
You can start at any time; however, the earlier you start the more prizes you can win.
Do I need to come in for each week or can I collect them all at once?
You can wait to collect your prizes towards the end of the program but please note prizes are given out while supplies last. We encourage participants to visit the library to collect their prizes weekly. We regret that we cannot provide prizes after supplies run out.
The program kicks off on Friday, May 31 and ends Saturday, August 3rd.
Will there be summer events at the library?
Definitely! Stay tuned to our website for current events (see below for some of them).
Do I need a library card?
While it isn’t necessary to have a library card, we highly recommend obtaining one to have full access to all the services of the library. See staff for more details.
NEW: The Salem site will serve food from 11:30 – 12:30 Monday – Thursday, and 11:00 – 12:00 on Fridays. Food will now be served at the picnic shelter.
