Library Updates

New Resources!

cloudLibrary for e-books!

We’re pleased to announce the addition of a new e-book service, cloudLibrary. cloudLibrary offers both e-books and e-audiobooks. The best part about cloudLibrary is that the library will be able to offer nearly eight times more titles than are currently featured in OverDrive. The web-based app and device apps are very simple to use. Apps are available for many devices, including Google Play and iOS. cloudLibrary will work with Kindle Fire devices, but not with Kindle e-ink devices.

The OCPL has partnered with several other libraries in the state of varying sizes to offer more content than ever on its e-book platform. While the library will also offer OverDrive until May 25, 2021, cloudLibrary will eventually replace OverDrive for all e-books in the library. Check it out today at oconeelibrary.org/ocpl-digital-media/, or by downloading the cloudLibrary app and then clicking the country, state, and library when prompted. If an item is checked out, it can be put on hold just like you would a physical book.  All you need to access all these titles in your library card and PIN. Don’t have a card? We can do that right online for you as well. Go to ocl.tlcdelivers.com and look for the “Get a Library Card” link in the upper right corner. Check it out today!

ALSO:
Check out our new electronic resources just in time to help with school this year! The OCPL is now offering Scholastic Bookflix and Scholastic Teachables. These can be found on both the Youth page and also under OCPL online/digital learning. The South Carolina State Library is also offering Tumble Math in addition to Tumblebooks. This can be found at SCDiscus.org, or on the Youth page here.

We have also just learned that the South Carolina State Library is going to continue offering Tutor.com. Check it out on our Youth page, and on our Online Digital Learning page!

Bookmobile Services restarted on limited basis

The Bookmobile is running normal routes, although not to all the places it did before. Though masks are not required in our branches, masks are required on the Bookmobile because of the limited space.

We’re doing everything we can to keep you and our staff safe at this time. Please call your selected branch for further assistance.

Posted by blair on

Check out this short, informative video from Marty Cline of Cline Financial Partners. She has created some programs for the library such as “Too Good to Be True,” about avoiding phone scams. Since we’re closed, we will post other short programs like this in the near future.
